Given:

A 320 m long train completely crosses a 240 m long train.

Speed of first train = 44 km/h.

Speed of second train = 56.8km/h

Formula Used:

Relative Speed = Speed1 + Speed2

Time (y) = Total Distance / Relative Speed

Calculation:

Speed1 = 44 km/h = 44 × 1000 / 3600 m/s = 12.22 m/s

Speed2 = 56.8 km/h = 56.8 × 1000 / 3600 m/s = 15.78 m/s

Relative Speed = 12.22 + 15.78 = 28 m/s

Total Distance = 320 + 240 = 560 m

⇒ y = 560 / 28

⇒ y = 20 seconds

∴ The correct answer is option (4).
