Detailed Solution
Download Solution PDFGiven:
Ratio of Milk and water in 48 litres of mixture = 3 : 1
Quantity to be taken out from mixture = 10 litres
Water added in mixture = 20 litres
Concept used:
Ratio of milk and water taken out from the mixture will be in the same ratio as present in the mixture
Calculation:
Let the quantity of milk and water be 3x and x respectively
So, Quantity of milk = (3x/4x) × 48 litres
⇒ 36 litres
Quantity of water in mixture = (48 – 36) litres
⇒ 12 litres
Quantity of milk taken out from mixture = 10 × (3/4) = 7.5 litres
Quantity of water taken out in the mixture = 10 × (1/4) = 2.5 litres
New quantity of milk in the mixture = 36 - 7.5 = 28.5 litres
New quantity of water in the mixture = (12 – 2.5) = 9.5 litres
New ratio = 28.5 : 9.5 + 20
⇒ 28.5 : 29.5
Final difference between milk and water = 29.5 - 28.5 = 1
∴ Final difference between milk and water is 1.
