Given:

Piyush sold a guitar to Anuj at a 16% gain and Anuj sold it to Mayank at a 32% gain.

Mayank paid Rs.3,828 for the guitar.

Concept used:

1. Selling Price = Cost Price × (1 + Gain%)

2. Final percentage change after two successive increments of A% and B% = \((A + B + {AB \over 100})\%\)

Calculation:

The net percentage profit from Piyush to Mayank

⇒ 16 + 32 + (16 × 32)/100 = 53.12%

Now, the cost price of the guitar to Piyush = 3828 ÷ (1 + 53.12%) = Rs. 2500

∴ Piyush paid Rs. 2500 for the guitar.
