Given:

Ashton = 60 days

Brooks = 120 days

Calculation:

One day work of Ashton = \(1 \over 60\)

One day work of Brooks = \(1 \over 120\)

One day work of A and B working together,

⇒ A + B = \({1 \over 60} + {1 \over 120}\)

⇒ A + B = \(120 + 60 \over 7200\)

⇒ A + B = \(180 \over 7200\) = \(18 \over 720\)

Total work of A + B

⇒ \(720 \over 18\)

⇒ 40

∴ A and B will complete the work together in 40 days.
