Calculation:

Considering the upper datum line, the pressure in the tube at the datum line will be equal to atmospheric pressure.

Now the exit is open to the atmosphere, hence the total head will be converted into velocity head.

Velocity of oil \(= \sqrt {2gh}\)

Here, h = 4+ 1.5 = 5.5 m

\(\therefore V = \sqrt {2 \times 9.81 \times 5.5}\)

\(= \sqrt {11 \times 9.81}\)
