There are a few details candidates should keep in mind while checking the NEET result. On the NEET result card candidate can check if all the important information is present. The list of details to check on your NEET scorecard is given below.

How to Calculate Marks for NEET?

Candidates can calculate the marks obtained by them and assess their performance in NEET. The criteria to check and the formula to calculate marks in the examination is given below.

• Each correct answer will be given four marks.
• One mark will be deducted for every incorrect answer.
• No mark will be deducted for the questions which have not been answered.
• Questions that have two or more responses marked on the OMR sheet will be considered as incorrect and one mark will be deducted for them.

Formula to calculate NEET Marks

NEET marks = 4 * Total correct answers – 1 * total incorrect answers.

Candidates should note that if in any question in the exam no options are found correct or all options are found correct for a given question. In such a case, all candidates who attempted the question will be given 4 marks, regardless of the question.

NEET Tie Breaking Policy 2025

If there is a tie between two or more candidates in terms of marks or percentile in the NEET-UG result 2025, the below mentioned few criteria will be followed to determine the order of merit.

Criteria 1: The candidate who has a higher score in biology (Botany & Zoology) will be rewarded a higher rank.

Criteria 2: If there is still a tie, then the candidate who has obtained more marks in Chemistry will be rewarded a higher rank.

Criteria 3: Even after that, the tie remains; the candidate who has obtained more marks in physics will be rewarded a higher rank.

Criteria 4: The candidate who has the lowest proportion of wrong answers will be rewarded with a higher rank.

Criteria 5: Candidate who has a lower proportion of incorrect attempted answers and correct answers in biology subject.

Criteria 6: Candidate who has a lower proportion of incorrect attempted answers and correct answers in Chemistry subject.

Criteria 7: Candidate who has a lower proportion of incorrect attempted answers and correct answers in Physics subject.

Criteria 8: The age criteria will be applicable if the tie still exists, and the candidate senior in age will be given a higher rank.

Criteria 9: Finally, the tie will be broken on the basis of ascending order of application numbers.

What After NEET Results?

Once the candidates have cleared the NEET and obtained their NEET 2025 result they will be eligible to register themselves under NEET 2025 counseling, which will further help them to apply for various medical colleges on the basis of their ranks. The NEET counseling session will begin soon after the NEET results are announced and will be conducted by MCC for seats under the 15% All India Quota. Other qualified candidates have to register under state counseling to get a seat in their corresponding states after clearing the eligibility criteria defined by the respective state officials.
