Breeding in biology refers to the sexual reproduction process in plants and animals, which results in offspring. This process involves a male and a female of the species.
Breeding encompasses the following:
Our ancestors improved many plants through selective farming. In animal breeding, the best traits (such as high-quality fur or abundant milk production) are selected, along with the breeding stock and strategy (for instance, inbreeding or crossbreeding). Pollination plays a vital role in modern plant breeding, as only pollen from the chosen male parent can be transferred to the chosen female parent.
