Answer (Detailed Solution Below)
Detailed Solution
Download Solution PDFExplanation:
The pressure in a fluid is measured in two different systems.
- In the first system, it is measured above the absolute zero or zero vacuum which is termed Absolute pressure.
- In the second system, Pressure is measured above the atmospheric pressure, it is known as Gauge Pressure.
- Gauge Pressure is measured after taking atmospheric pressure as a datum,
- Thus it can be concluded that on the pressure scale atmospheric pressure is marked as zero.
Absolute Pressure = Atmospheric pressure + Gauge Pressure
∴ Gauge Pressure = Absolute Pressure – Atmospheric pressure
Pgauge = Pabs - Patm
∴ Vacuum pressure = Atmospheric pressure – Absolute pressure
Pvacuum = Patm - Pabs
