- देश में उत्पादित लगभग 80% सेब जम्मू और कश्मीर में उत्पादित होते हैं। वार्षिक आय रु. 1500 करोड़, सेब कृषि और इसकी मूल्य श्रृंखला ग्रामीण अर्थव्यवस्थाओं की नींव है।
- कश्मीर में सेब उत्पादक जिले-
- श्रीनगर, गांदरबल, बडगाम, बारामूला, कुपवाड़ा, अनंतनाग और शोपियां जिले देश के अधिकांश सेब का उत्पादन करते हैं, हालांकि उधमपुर, डोडा, पुंछ, रामबन और रियासी में भी कम मात्रा में पाई जाती है।
- सेब उत्पादन-
- कश्मीर में लगभग 11 एमटी / हेक्टेयर का उत्पादन होता है, जबकि इटली, चिली, फ्रांस आदि देशों में 40 एमटी / हेक्टेयर से अधिक का उत्पादन होता है।
- खेती के अधीन क्षेत्र-
- उच्च घनत्व वाले वृक्षारोपण से 250 हेक्टेयर क्षेत्र को कवर किया गया है।
