As per the SSC JHT Vacancy 2025 details, the Staff Selection Commission has announced approximately 437 tentative vacancies for various Group ‘B’ Non-Gazetted posts. These include Junior Hindi Translator, Junior Translator, Junior Translation Officer, Senior Hindi Translator, Senior Translator, and Sub-Inspector (Hindi Translator) roles across multiple Central Government departments.

-> The candidates who will clear the exam will get a salary range between Rs. 35,400/- to Rs. 1,12, 400/-.

Step 1: One-Time Registration (OTR)

Candidates must complete the One-Time Registration before applying for the SSC JHT 2025 exam. Aadhaar-based authentication is enabled, and essential documents like Aadhaar, email ID, and mobile number are required.

Step 2: Aadhaar Verification or Alternate Document Upload

Applicants can authenticate using their Aadhaar number. Those opting out must upload valid ID proofs such as PAN, Voter ID, or Driving License for name, DoB, address, and gender verification.

Step 3: Filling Personal Details

Enter personal information such as name, date of birth, father's and mother's names exactly as mentioned in your 10th class certificate. These fields must be verified twice to avoid errors.

Step 4: Academic Details and Contact Information

Fill in your 10th class board name, roll number, and passing year. Also, provide a working mobile number and email ID to receive OTPs for verification and further communication.

Step 5: Confirm and Save Registration Details

After saving your basic details, confirm the OTPs sent to your mobile and email to receive your Registration Number and auto-generated password. Complete the process within 14 days.

Step 6: Password Setup and Login

Use your registration number and password to log in. Upon first login, change your password and re-login to proceed further in the One-Time Registration process.

Step 7: Fill Additional Details

Provide your category, nationality, identification mark, disability certificate number (if applicable), and permanent and current addresses in this section. Review all information before final submission.

Step 8: Final Submission and Declaration

After reviewing the draft preview, click “Final Submit” and verify via OTP. Read and agree to the declaration. Incomplete registrations within 14 days will be automatically deleted.

SSC JHT Application Fee 2025

The Fee can be paid only through online payment modes, namely BHIM UPI, Net Banking, or by using Visa, MasterCard, Maestro, or RuPay Debit card. Online fee can be paid by candidates up to 27.06.2024 (23:00 hours). The application fee that has to be paid by the candidate is different as per the category and is mentioned below:

SSC Junior Hindi Translator 2025 Eligibility

Candidates who are willing to apply for the Junior Hindi Translator post must meet the SSC JHT Eligibility set by the conducting authority. Those candidates who fulfill the criteria only they are eligible for this post. The criteria are divided into age limit, education qualification which is stated below.

SSC JHT Age Limit

For the post of Sub-Inspector (Hindi Translator) in CRPF, the age limit is 18 to 30 years as of the closing date of application submission. That means candidates must have been born between 25-06-1995 and 26-06-2007 to be eligible.

For all other posts under SSC JHT 2025, the age will be calculated as on 01-08-2025. Applicants must be between 18 to 30 years, i.e., born between 02-08-1995 and 01-08-2007. Additionally, there are provisions for upper age relaxation for candidates belonging to reserved categories as per the government norms.

SSC JHT Educational Qualification​

The Educational qualifications vary by position but generally include a Master's degree in Hindi or English, with one language as a compulsory subject. Additional qualifications include a recognized translation diploma or certificate or relevant translation work experience in government offices. This ensures candidates are well-versed in both Hindi and English languages for translation roles.

SSC JHT 2025 Selection Process

The selection process for SSC JHT 2025 involves two key stages—Paper-I (Computer Based Test) and Paper-II (Descriptive Test). Candidates must secure the minimum qualifying marks in Paper-I, which are 30% for UR, 25% for OBC/EWS, and 20% for all other categories. Based on Paper-I scores, candidates will be shortlisted category-wise for the Descriptive Paper-II.

The final merit list will be prepared considering the marks obtained in both Paper-I and Paper-II. Allocation of ministries and departments will be based on candidate preferences and performance. It’s crucial to note that once a post is allotted based on preference and merit, it cannot be changed later. Therefore, candidates must carefully fill out their post and department preferences during the application process, as no request for changes will be entertained under any circumstances.

SSC JHT 2025 Exam Pattern

The Staff Selection Commission will release the SSC JHT Exam Pattern for the 2025 cycle. Candidates must cross check the detailed SSC JHT Exam Pattern to make themselves familiar with the scheme of examination. 

  • The first stage of the SSC JHT exam is Paper-I, which is conducted in a computer-based mode and consists of objective-type questions.
  • The test includes two sections: General Hindi and General English, each comprising 100 questions worth 100 marks.
  • A negative marking of 0.25 marks is applicable for incorrect answers.
  • This paper assesses the candidates' proficiency in Hindi and English languages, focusing on grammar, vocabulary, and comprehension skills.
  • Candidates who qualify Paper-I by securing the minimum qualifying marks will proceed to Paper-II, which is a descriptive test. This paper consists of translation and essay writing tasks, designed to evaluate the candidates' ability to translate texts between Hindi and English accurately and their essay-writing skills in both languages.

SSC JHT 2025 Syllabus

The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has released the SSC JHT Syllabus 2025 along with the official notification. The SSC JHT 2025 syllabus is divided into two papers: Paper-I and Paper-II. Paper-I is a Computer Based Examination designed to assess a candidate’s command over the Hindi and English languages. It tests grammar, vocabulary, correct usage of phrases and idioms, and the ability to write clearly and accurately. The questions will be of degree level, matching the educational qualifications required.

Paper-II is a descriptive paper that focuses on translation and essay writing. It includes two passages—one for translation from Hindi to English and another from English to Hindi. Additionally, candidates must write an essay in both languages. This paper evaluates the candidate’s translation proficiency and writing skills in both Hindi and English, ensuring their ability to express thoughts precisely and effectively.

SSC JHT 2025 Salary

The SSC Junior Hindi Translator (JHT) post comes with a competitive salary structure under the 7th Central Pay Commission. The basic pay for this role is set at ₹35,400 per month, corresponding to Pay Level-6 (₹35,400 - ₹1,12,400). In addition to the basic pay, employees are entitled to various allowances, including –

  • Dearness Allowance (DA): Calculated as a percentage of the basic pay to offset inflation.
  • House Rent Allowance (HRA): Varies based on the city of posting, categorized as X, Y, or Z cities, with HRA rates of 24%, 16%, and 8% of the basic pay, respectively.
  • Transport Allowance (TA): Provided to cover commuting expenses, with rates depending on the city classification.

These allowances, combined with the basic pay, result in a gross salary that varies based on the posting location. For instance, in an X category city, the gross salary can be approximately ₹71,520 per month. After standard deductions, the in-hand salary is around ₹65,520 per month. The Junior Translators in the Central Secretariat Official Language Services & others are all placed in Level-6, with a pay range of Rs. 35400 to Rs. 112400. Senior Hindi Translators in various Central Government Ministries/Departments/Offices are placed in Level-7, with a pay range of Rs. 44900 to Rs. 142400. The post wise salary is given below –
