29th July 2022: OPSC Geologist Revised Exam Center Out!

The Odisha Public Service Commission has released a revised exam center for the OPSC Geologist Examination. The exam center for the Roll Number:101001 to 101352 would be Stewart Science College, Mission Road, Buxi Bazar, Cuttack, 753001 instead of Stewart Science College, Madhusudhan Road, Buxi Bazar, Cuttack, 753001.

18th July 2022: OPSC Geologist Exam Date and Schedule Out!

The OPSC has released the exam date and schedule of the Geologist exam on 18th July 2022. The candidates have to appear for the OPSC Geologist Exam on 7th August 2022 and the timing for Paper 1(General Studies) will be 10:00 A.M. to 11:30 A.M. and for Paper 2(Geology), it is 1:30 P.M. to 4:30 P.M. In Paper 1, half hour extra is given to the PwD candidates and in Paper 2, one hour extra is given. Check out the notice below.

12th April 2022: OPSC Geologist Exam Date Out!

The Odisha Public Service Commission has released the OPSC Geologist Exam Date. The exam date is released for the Advt No: 06 of 2020-21. The exam will be held from 23rd April to 25th April 2022. The admit card for the same will be released on 18th April 2022. Check the official notice below.

OPSC Geologist Vacancy 2023

The OPSC has released a total number of 36 vacancies to be filled under the OPSC Geologist Recruitment (2021 cycle). Check the table below to know the detailed vacancy distribution.

Out of the total 36 vacancies mentioned above, one(01) post is reserved for PwD candidates who have Hearing Impairment (with suitable aid).

OPSC Geologist Apply Online 2023

The candidates who wish to apply for the OPSC Geologist recruitment process must submit their applications through the official website from 15th September to 29th October 2021. The steps on how to apply for the OPSC Recruitment process are provided below.

Step 1: Go through the direct link mentioned above.

Step 2: Fill in all the fields in the application form.

Step 3: Attach the required documents, recent passport size photograph, and signature in the prescribed format. You can use the Testbook Cropping Tool to upload images in specific dimensions

Step 4: Pay the Application Fees.

Step 5: Verify the details and in the application form and click on the submit button.

Step 6: Download and take a printout of the application form for future reference.

Step 7: Alternatively, candidates can visit the official website and click on the relevant link. Then follow steps 2 to 6.

OPSC Geologist Application Fee 2023

There will be an application fee as well which the candidates need to submit along with the submission of OPSC Geologist application forms. The fee details as mentioned below.

• Candidates need to pay an application fee of INR 500/-.
• The candidates falling under SC/ ST/ PWD categories are exempted from paying the application fee.

Documents/ Certificates to be Attached with OPSC Application Form

• H.S.C. or equivalent Certificate in support age proof issued by the concerned Board /Council,
• Master's Degree Certificate in Geology or Applied Geology or Earth Science from recognized University in India.
• Mark-sheets in support of educational examinations passed.
• Two recent unsigned & unattested passport size photographs which have been uploaded with an Online Application Form.
• By birth Caste Certificate in support of claim as S.C. /ST./S.E. B.C.wherever applicable.
• Any identity proof.
• Odia Pass Certificate from the Competent Authority, wherever applicable;
• Disability Certificate (indicating percentage of permanent disability) wherever applicable;
• Discharge/ NOC Certificates issued by the Commanding Officer of the Unit last served.

OPSC Geologist Eligibility Criteria 2023

As per the OPSC notification, some eligibility criteria has been set that the candidates need to meet in order to apply for the OPSC recruitment process. The detailed eligibility criterion that has to be met is given below.

OPSC Geologist Age Criteria (As of 01st January 2021)

Candidates must be between the ages of 21 to 32 years. Candidates should not be born earlier than 02nd January 1989 and not later than 1st January 2000.

• Minimum Age: 21 years
• Maximum Age: 32 years

The above age must be met as of 01st January 2021. Age relaxation of 5 years will be given for SC/ ST candidates and 10 years for PWD candidates.

OPSC Geologist Age Criteria Educational Qualification Criteria

• The candidate must hold a second class Masters Degree in Geology or Applied Geology or Earth Science from any recognized University in India.
• The candidate must be able to speak, read and write Odia.

It is mandatory for candidates to have - 

• passed Middle School Examination with Odia as a language subject, OR,
• passed Matriculation or equivalent examination with Odia as medium of examination, OR,
• passed Odia as language subject in the final examination of Class VII, OR,
• passed a test in Odia in Middle English School Standard conducted by the School and Mass Education Department.

OPSC Geologist Selection Process 2023

The OPSC will select candidates based on the selection criteria decided by the commission. The selection process will consist of two stages. The candidates who clear all the stages of the selection criteria will be selected for the post. The stages are as follows;

OPSC Geologist Exam Pattern 2023

The detailed exam pattern for the OPSC Geologist Recruitment is as follows. Candidates can prepare for the exam as per the following pattern.

• All questions will carry 02 marks each.
• 0.5 marks will be deducted for every wrong answer given.
• Candidates who clear the written test and are shortlisted will be called up for the viva-voce test.
• The Viva-Voce Test will be conducted for a total of 50 marks.

OPSC Geologist Admit Card 2023

The OPSC Geologist Admit Card has been released by the Odisha Public Service Commission after the completion of the online application process a few weeks before starting of the written exam. Aspirants who have applied for the vacancy and paid the application fees, will be able to download their OPSC Geologist Admit Card through the official website of OPSC. Following steps are to be followed to successfully download the OPSC Geologist admit card:

Step 1 : Open the official OPSC website.

Step 2 : In the “What’s New” section search for the “OPSC Geologist Admit Card/ Call Letter” link.

Step 3 : As you click it you will be redirected to a new page where you need to provide your unique ID, date of birth, and application number (if required) to log in.

Step 4 : Once you submit those details, your admit card will appear on your screen. 

Step 5 : Download and Save the OPSC Geologist Admit Card and take a print of it. Make sure to carry the hard copy with you to the exam center.

Hall tickets will not be sent by post or any other medium to applicants. It is mandatory for the candidates to take out a clear printout of their hall ticket to gain access to the examination hall. Salary and Job Profile for OPSC Geologist

Candidates selected for the Odisha Ground Water Geologist Service under Department of Water Resource are entitled to a salary in the Scale of Pay of Rs. 56,100/- in Level 12, Cell-I of Pay Matrix under ORSP Rules, 2017 with usual Dearness and other Allowances as may be sanctioned by the Government of Odisha from time to time.
