Rajgir in Bihar will host the Hero Asia Cup Hockey 2025 in August.
The 12th edition of the Hero Asia Cup will witness the participation of 8 teams, including India, Pakistan, Japan, Korea, China, and Malaysia.
This will be the second international sporting event hosted by Rajgir, after the Women’s Asian Champions Trophy in November'24, where India emerged victorious.

Cabinet has approved the Kosi Mechi Intra-State Link Project under PMKSY-AIBP, with a central support of Rs. 3,652.56 crore to complete the project by March 2029.
The project aims to divert surplus Kosi river water for irrigation, covering 2,10,516 hectares in Bihar's Araria, Purnea, Kishanganj & Katihar districts.
The initiative is part of PMKSY's broader goal to enhance irrigation access.

The Cabinet has approved the 120.10 km Patna-Arrah-Sasaram corridor in Bihar, costing Rs. 3,712.40 crore, to be developed under Hybrid Annuity Mode.
The project will alleviate congestion, improve connectivity with major roads, airports & railways & enhance regional economic growth.
It will generate 48 lakh man-days of employment, boosting infrastructure & socio-economic development in Bihar.

Bihar FM Samrat Choudhary presented a ₹3.17 lakh crore budget, ₹38,169 crore higher than the previous year.
Education got ₹60,000 crore, health ₹22,820 crore, and rural development ₹16,094 crore, the highest allocations.
Women-centric initiatives include pink toilets, pink buses, Kanya Vivah Mandap, Mahila Haat, and Gym On Wheel.

SJVN signed an MoU with Bihar's government to develop the 1000 MW Hathidah Durgawati PSP, attracting a ₹10,000 crore investment and creating 5,000 jobs.
Proposed on the Durgawati River in Kaimur, the PSP will generate 2308.65 MU annually at ₹9.39/kWh.
State's PSP Push: SJVN was allotted four PSPs, with Hathidah Durgawati identified as the most feasible.

GoI has granted in-principle approvals for 47 projects in Bihar to receive interest subvention on bank loans for establishing or expanding distilleries.
Bihar currently has 22 operational ethanol distilleries, including 8 molasses-based and 14 grain-based units.
This initiative aligns with the national Ethanol Blended Petrol Program, targeting 20% ethanol blending with petrol by 2025-26.

NTPC CMD Gurdeep Singh revealed plans to set up a nuclear power project in Bihar at the 'Bihar Business Connect 2024' summit.
NTPC currently has an installed capacity of 76,531 MW, including thermal, solar, and wind.
ASHVINI JV: The Indian government approved a joint venture, Anushakti Vidhyut Nigam Ltd (ASHVINI), between NPCIL (51%) and NTPC (49%), to build and operate nuclear power plants.

Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman, Union Finance Minister, chaired a Credit Outreach Programme in Madhubani, Bihar, distributing loans worth Rs. 1,121 crore to 50,294 beneficiaries.
NABARD and SIDBI approved funding of over Rs. 155.84 crore and Rs. 75.52 lakh for rural road projects.
The Minister also distributed Constitution copies in Maithili and Sanskrit to distinguished citizens.

The project will cover 1,670 acres, attract an investment of INR 16,524 crore, and create 1,09,185 jobs.

Sultanganj railway station in Bihar’s Bhagalpur district is set to be renamed after the Ajgaibinath Dham, a revered Hindu shrine dedicated to Lord Shiva, located along the Ganga River.
The proposal for the renaming, aimed at boosting tourism and connecting with the region’s cultural roots, was passed by the Bhagalpur municipal council and will soon be forwarded for further approval.

CM Nitish laid the foundation for projects worth Rs 7,160 crore, including 2,615 panchayat buildings and a resource centre.
8,053 panchayat buildings planned; 6,858 approved, with 1,548 completed.
Solar panels to be installed on buildings; 8,00,740 street lights to be installed by March 2025.
CM also inaugurated 13 district panchayat resource centres, 65 panchayat government buildings.

Bihar Industries Minister Nitish Mishra inaugurated the state's first Dry Port & Inland Container Depot (ICD) in Bihta, near Patna.
The facility will provide warehousing, customs clearance, and multi-modal transport services, significantly enhancing logistics for importers and exporters in Bihar.
It is well-connected by rail to major ports like Kolkata, Haldia, Visakhapatnam, and Mundra.

The central government has granted temporary approval for Bihar's second tiger reserve in Kaimur district.
The Kaimur Wildlife Sanctuary will be transformed into a tiger reserve, addressing the overpopulation in the existing Valmiki Tiger Reserve, which has 54 tigers.
Kaimur’s forests are the largest in Bihar, covering 1,134 square km, with the highest green cover in the state at 34%.

Bihar CM Nitish Kumar inaugurated the Bapu Tower in Patna on Mahatma Gandhi's 155th birth anniversary.
The iconic structure features cylindrical and rectangular designs across five storeys.
The tower includes galleries depicting Mahatma Gandhi’s life, with a special section on his visit to Bihar and the Champaran Satyagraha
It is spread across seven acres with a budget of ₹129 crore.

Bihar will launch a drive to cull 3 lakh Nilgai and 67,000 wild boars in 5 districts, due to large-scale crop damage.
5 districts: East Champaran, Vaishali, Buxar, Siwan, and Samastipur.
The Agriculture Department will bear the cost of culling, with hunters provided by the Forest Department.
Farmers receive ₹50,000 per hectare as compensation for crop damage.
