Apple is expected to introduce a new all-in-one gaming app across its devices at the upcoming Apple Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2025, according to reports. If launched, it will mark the tech giant’s biggest foray into the gaming space. Reports suggest that the Cupertino tech giant plans to phase out Game Center with the launch of its new Xbox-inspired gaming app. Additionally, the app will come pre-installed on the company’s upcoming iPhones, iPads, MacBooks, and Apple TV box.
Apple Gaming App: Details
A report from Bloomberg, cited by The Verge, reveals that Apple intends to launch a new gaming hub-style app for iPhones, iPads, Macs, and Apple TV. Similar to Google Play Games or the Xbox app, it will allow users to launch installed games, view leaderboards, and track in-game achievements. Apple aims to enhance the gaming experience across its devices amid increasing competition from console makers and cloud gaming platforms.
Expected Launch Date
Apple is expected to announce its new gaming app during the Worldwide Developers Conference on June 9. It is set to replace the Game Center service, which was rolled out in 2010. The app might also serve to boost Apple Arcade, the company’s game subscription service priced at Rs 99 per month.
The report adds that Macs can even run games installed outside the App Store. The new app may also connect with iMessage or FaceTime to support remote multiplayer gaming. As part of its new strategy, Apple recently took over RAC7 Games, the studio which created Sneaky Sasquatch, one of Apple Arcade’s biggest hits.
