Goldberg’s Retirement Match Announced
During WWE RAW, Gunther came out and addressed the audience. He took a shot at Jey Uso, whom he had defeated the previous week to capture the World Heavyweight Championship. The “Ring General” then set his sights on his next target, naming Seth Rollins. However, before things could progress further, Goldberg made his shocking entrance.
Goldberg reminded Gunther that what started in Atlanta, Georgia, would now end there. He then challenged Gunther to a match at Saturday Night’s Main Event, scheduled for July 12. WWE quickly made it official – Goldberg vs. Gunther for the World Heavyweight Championship.
The match will be particularly special, as it will take place in Atlanta, Georgia – Goldberg’s hometown. For the WWE legend, it’s a fitting location to bring his iconic career to a close.
When Did Goldberg Last Compete in WWE?
Goldberg’s last match in WWE took place at Elimination Chamber 2022, where he faced Roman Reigns for the Universal Championship. The match, which lasted only six minutes, ended with Reigns successfully retaining his title. Fans were disappointed with Goldberg’s performance that night.
Now, after more than three years, Goldberg is set to return for one final in-ring battle and this time, he’s ready to go out in true legendary fashion.
