A robotic camera dog now serves as a ‘new member’ within the broadcasting platform of the Indian Premier League (IPL). The fur-like brown robot features a camera mounted on its face which allows it to run, jump and catch reflective surfaces for providing cricket match viewing. The robot activates in a league video that features action from the IPL contest between Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals at the New Delhi stadium.

During the interaction between the robot and the players from Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals at New Delhi’s Arun Jaitley Stadium Hardik Pandya of MI showed interest but Axar Patel from DC appeared perplexed followed by Reece Topley from MI who displayed fear upon witnessing it stand. The broadcast by Danny Morrison introduced the robotic on-screen character from New Zealand while the broadcaster engaged in pleasant gestures by asking it to form a heart with its mechanical limbs and they raced against each other. The IPL conducted an internet-based search to get fan suggestions for its name.
“Our newest member of the IPL broadcast team,” Morrison said introducing the dog. “It can walk, it can run, it can greet but most importantly, this is pet vision, which gives a whole new energy, a whole new dynamic to the broadcast. This fellow is absolutely sensational. And it stands on its hind legs and shows the love pose. As I said, be wary, don’t get too close! … We need your help in [picking] a name for it. Stay tuned to the IPL broadcast and you can be a part of the naming of this,” he added.
