South Africa has won the World Test Championship 2025 final against Australia at Lord’s cricket ground by a marginal 5-wicket victory. Aiden Markram and Kagiso Rabada’s heroic spells led the Proteas to victory. Aiden Markram, after going back to the pavilion on a duck, smashed a stunning half-century and was eventually dismissed at 136 runs. Markram, even after scoring a century, is not one of the leading run scorers of the WTC 2025. England’s Joe Root finds the top spot at the podium, while India’s Yashasvi Jaiswal is in 2nd place in the highest run scorers. Here are the top 5 run scorers of WTC 2023-25 leg.

Joe Root
England did not make it to the final, but their superstar batter Joe Root was hitting in top gear in the 2023-25 cycle. According to ESPNcricinfo, he scored the outstanding 1,968 runs in only 40 innings at a maniacal average of 54.67. The seven centuries were the number that Root ticked in the span when no other hitter could even manage six tons. He also has scored seven fifties.
Yashasvi Jaiswal
Yashasvi Jaiswal, who had his Test debut at the beginning of the WTC India 2023-25 series, had a superb stint with the bat as well. Lefty Jaiswal scored 1,798 runs in 36 innings with an unbelievable average of 52.88. This comprises 10 fifties and 4 tons, one of which is a double-ton. In 2024, the youngster had 36 Test sixes, which is the highest by a batter in a calendar year.
Ben Duckett
The other England superstar who was sizzling during this cycle is Ben Duckett. The batsman who has the title of the hard hitter was the aggressive opener, who scored 1,470 runs in the 41 innings with an average of 36.75. Further, his strike rate of 84.33 was the highest amongst all the batters having more than 200 runs in this cycle. Duckett scored 8 fifties and two tons, with the highest score being 153.
Harry Brook
Harry Brook, of England, gets onto this list despite also missing out in England’s five-Test series in India last year. At the end of this cycle, the dasher had made 1,463 runs in 29 innings with an average of 50.44. He has had an outrageous strike percentage of 83.36. During this cycle, Brook made four tons in addition to seven fifties.
Usman Khawaja
Usman Khawaja completes the list in the top five because he was the leading run-getter in Australia. He got 1,428 runs in 39 innings, having an average of almost 40 (39.66). Importantly, the left-handedness failed to make his bat chatter in the final as the southpaw scored 0 and 6 in the two fixtures. In this round altogether, he broke two tons and six fifties.
