Ram Lakshman Dwadashi 2025: According to the Panchang, this auspicious day is observed as Ram Laxman Dwadashi. On this day, devotees observe an absolute fast and offers prayer to Lord Shri Ram, Lakshmana and Shri Krishna. This day is also considered to be a virtuous and sacred day associated with reverence. What is Ram Laxman Dwadashi?
According to Ram Laxman Dwadashi Hindu Panchang, every year Jyeshtha Shukla Dwadashi is celebrated on the next day of Nirjala Ekadashi and it is considered equally virtuous. This day is considered extremely sacred and auspicious for the worship of Shri Ram, Lakshmana (Sheshnag) and Shri Krishna. On this day, devotees go to the temples of Lord Vishnu and offer prayers. It is believed that fasting on this sacred day brings salvation, happiness, and prosperity.
King Dasharatha Observed This Fast:
According to mythological beliefs, in the Treta Yuga, Ayodhya King King Dasaratha performed this fast with full devotion in order to get children. It is said that Lord Vishnu took birth as King Dasharatha’s eldest son in the form of Shri Ram and sheshnaga took birth as Lakshmana with the influence of fasting and worship. It is said that if Dasharatha ji had not kept this fast, then his Putrakashti Yagya would not have been completed. Therefore, devotees have been observing this fast with faith and reverence since then.
The Reason Why It’s Called As Champak Dwadashi:
Dwadashi date of Shukla Paksha of Jyeshtha month is also called ‘Champak Dwadashi’. On this day, Lord Krishna’s adornment is especially done with Champa flowers, because these flowers are considered very dear to him. It is believed that by offering flowers of Champa on this day, the devotee attains salvation. If Champa is not found, then worship can be done with any white other coloured flower.
