Notably, the Congress has taken social engineering into account while selecting the new ministers. The party has adhered to its Scheduled Caste Sub-categorisation policy in its appointments. Laxman belongs to the Madiga community, Vivek to the Mala community, and Srihari to the Backward Class–Mudiraj community.
Party sources had earlier, hinted that the leadership was considering candidates from sub-categories of Scheduled Castes to fill the six vacancies. These six ministerial berths were vacant since the Congress came to power in December 2023. 11 berths out of the total 17, were filled as soon as the government was formed.
An hour-long meeting was held between AICC in-charge Meenakshi Natarajan and CM Revanth Reddy on Friday, June 6 to finalise the names.
