Five medical students lost their lives after a London-Bound Air India flight crashed into BJ Medical College in Ahmedabad.
According to reports, four undergraduate students and one post graduate resident were killed in the incident.
The FAIMA Doctors Association said in a tweet, “We are deeply shocked about the news of AI , crashing in Ahmedabad. ! News have become more gruesome after finding out that flight had crushed in BJMC, Hostel & many MBBS students have also been injured!!!!We are monitoring the situation closely & are ready for any help!”

The incident took place during lunchtime while the students were eating. Pictures from the scene show plates and glasses lying on the tables. A part of the aircraft stuck in the hostel can be seen in the pictures.
Earlier today, an Air India plane from Ahmedabad to London with 242 passengers crashed in the Meghaninagar area near Ahmedabad airport on Thursday. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation said that a team has been rushed to the spot for investigation.
The aircraft was under the command of Capt Sumeet Sabharwal with First Officer Clive Kundar. Capt Sumeet Sabharwal is an LTC with 8200 hours of experience. The official added that the copilot had 1100 hours of flying experience.
As per ATC, the aircraft departed from Ahmedabad at 1339 IST (0809 UTC) from runway 23. It made a Mayday call to ATC, but thereafter, the aircraft did not respond to the calls made by ATC.
