The release of Like Jennie, the debut solo single song from Jennie, member of known K-pop brand Blackpink has sparked a major controversy, making comparisons to a song from Alia Bhatt’s 2023 film Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani.

The Alleged Plagiarism Controversy
The controversy started on March 4, when Jennie shared a short teaser of ‘Like Jennie’ on her social media account. The teaser quickly went viral, and garnered widespread attention but for the wrong reasons. Fans Divided!
The Intro Theme was composed by Pritam and it plays during the introduction of Alia Bhatt’s character, Rani, in the film. Fans of Alia Bhatt quickly voiced their disappointment, accusing Jennie of copying the music. They argued that there is resemblance between the two songs and criticised Jennie for allegedly copying the same rhythmic pattern from Rani’s track.

While many users were convinced about the similarities, Jennie’s fanbase, BLINKs came to her defend. They rejected the claims, with stated that they couldn’t hear any similarity between the two songs.
Many fans also claimed it as ‘unfair judgement’ as the song was being questioned before its full release.-
The Controversy Escalates
The conflict between fans of Jennie and Alia Bhatt started to involve racist comments. When one of the Jennie supporter compared Alia Bhatt’s Met Gala appearence to a wired looking monster.
After this, Alia fans began highlighting her achievements, including the global success of RRR and her prominent Met Gala appearance.
What’s Next For Both The Stars
The clash between both the fandoms continues to escalate on social media, with both sides defending their favourite stars.
For now, it’s unclear whether the plagiarism claims will be dig down or continue to impact Jennie’s solo career.
