Skoda has resolute plans to bring Skoda Octavia RS to India. Since, this news comes right after the recent launch of the Golf GTI, it would be fair to say that manufacturers are finally acknowledging the demands of performance enthusiasts in the nation. While, the brand has not committed to a specific timeline but it has confirmed that the Octavia RS would be here by the festive season.
Skoda Octavia RS To Be Brought in as a CBU import, the Car had already made an appearance at the Bharat Mobility Expo in January; the Octavia RS will finally go on sale as a CBU import this year. But just like that of the Volkswagen Golf GTI the allocations would likely be limited. Since the brand has a loyal fan following in India its launch would be a highly anticipated one. Skoda’s past experience in selling Octavia RS- 245 brought to India was pretty good as it proved to be a quick seller.
Being a CBU the pricing of the car would be on the higher side, its possible that the car might be priced closer to Rs 50 Lakh. The positioning of the vehicle would be quite similar to the VW Golf GTI.
Future Plans For The Brand
Beyond the Octavia RS the brand is also planning to bring the new Kodiaq RS as well as the Superb. Beyond that, the brand also has plans to bring in Diesel Powertrain with the Superb. In the future the brand might also plan to assemble Octavia locally. But these plans as of yet have been put on hold due to FTA approvals and geopolitical uncertainty.
The report from Autocar has further revealed that the Octavia RS would work as a Halo model ,while the brand focuses on locally produced models such as the Kylaq. Beyond that, Volkswagen would be working on an all new facelift for the kushaq as well as the Slavia. To further step up their game Skoda is also expanding its dealers across the nation.
